QUALITY POLICY We, KAALALAY FOUNDATION, INC. (KFI), a non-stock non-profit organization, are aimed and focused on helping the self-employed and ‘unbanked' sector by providing microfinance services to viable livelihood activities as a focal point for social empowerment and community development. In fulfilling our mission, we commit to provide consistently superior quality services and to implement, maintain and continually improve the effectiveness of our quality management system. To do this, we shall: Identify, understand and organize ‘unbanked' community-based groups and empower them through value formation, skills development and technology enhancement programs, consistent with the aspirations of the stakeholders; Promote social awareness, linkages, responsibility and general welfare of our members, stakeholders and employees through training, education and formation programs; and Establish to continually review our quality objectives and our quality management system to ensure their continuing suitability. |
Kaalalay Foundation, Inc. (KFI) was established on September 9, 2002 as the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of the Mandala Agricultural Development Corporation (Madecor). The Foundation was conceptualized to help the self-employed and “unbank” sector of the society by providing microfinance services to viable livelihood activities as a focal point for social empowerment and community development. The program of KFI was patterned from the Grameen Bank model of Microfinance by Dr. Muhammad Yunus which became successful in Bangladesh. KFI established its first center on September 24, 2002 at Brgy. Timugan, Los Baños, Laguna with 18 members. As year 2002 ended, KFI saw an increase in membership to 488, with P2M loan disbursement. In the year 2003, KFI expanded its operations in Bay, Calauan, Pila, Calamba City, Cabuyao, Nagcarlan, Liliw and Victoria, establishing 89 centers. KFI continued to conduct its regular quarterly center chief meeting in order to discuss the policies of KFI, get feedback from members regarding the program and discuss relevant matters pertaining to the members and organization. A partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), in collaboration with the Industrial Technology and Livelihood Development (ITDI) was also started. During its first anniversary, a trade fair featuring the products of its members dubbed as "Kalakalan sa Kaunlaran" and a General Assembly was held. It was also this year when the "Kapamilya Program" (Adopt-a-Family) was established. At the end of 2003, the total loan disbursement was P58.8M with 3,095 active members. A larger operation happened in year 2004. The "Lakbay-Aral" was added to the list of the programs of KFI which focuses on intermingling KFI members with other micro-entrepreneurs. The first branch was also opened in Alaminos City, Pangasinan on June 11, 2004. At the end of 2004, the total loan disbursement was P62.4M with 178 active centers and 5,268 members. In 2005, KFI established its second branch in San Carlos City, Pangasinan. On that same year, KFI was awarded its ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System Certification, by TUV Philippines. The Foundation, has grown to a force of 50 officers and employees. |
